A common reason for wanting to make a career pivot or career change is a change in life circumstances. And becoming a parent — especially for women — is a strong catalyst for a career pivot.
Janice Plado left her corporate life when she had her daughter. She and her husband started talking about her returning to work a few years later. But she wanted to keep her parenting responsibilities as the top priority. Whatever job she would take on must work around the family schedule.
She set her intentions for a career she wanted based on these priorities and kept her eyes and ears open for opportunities that would allow her to experiment and test to see what would work.
Today, Janice Plado is a virtual assistant to small business owners and entrepreneurs. After a few tweaks here and there, she was able to design her work-life to support the kind of mother she wants to be.
In this episode, Janice shares how she made this happen, the early steps she took to find opportunities, and the adjustments she made along the way to keep her original intentions and priorities while also growing her work.
She also shares suggestions for anybody who may be thinking about doing something similar, and her suggestions are so practical and doable, anybody can do it!
